Chris McKnight, Pastor-Teacher

I was born to John and Bettie in 1965, surprisingly born again in 1986 at an F.C.A. College Advance, married the sweet and beautiful Kim Duncan in 1990 and we finally made it to Texas a decade later! My first Sunday at KBC was July 2, 2000 and I have no idea what I preached. I do remember preaching through the Gospel of John for the next four years! Before Texas and Kerrville Bible Church, I spent four years at Tennessee Tech University (B.S. in Business Admin/Accounting in 1987), four years in CA at The Master’s Seminary (M.Div in 1994) and five years back in Tennessee as a bi-vocational Associate Pastor and Elder at Calvary Bible Church in Joelton, Tennessee.
We came to KBC with our three precious children, Caleb, Katie and Carson. They are now “grown and gone”. Caleb is married to Mary Catherine and lives in Round Rock. Katie lives in San Antonio. Carson is married to Katee and they live in Tyler, Texas.
Raising a family and serving KBC has been a little bit of everything but thru thick and thin, mountains, deep valleys and mostly routine days, God has proven Himself mighty, faithful and exceedingly kind to us. We feel deeply loved and appreciated. I’m more encouraged than ever by what God is doing here and pray to be faithful and fruitful until Jesus calls me home. KBC is our family and I’d love to keep doing what I’m doing until I’m 75, even 85 years old!
My interests include daily exercise, cooking and eating, reading history, biographies, theology, books on preaching and watching way too much football. Roll Tide! I love the Word, preaching, chocolate chip cookies and perfect bacon.

Scott Christensen, Associate Pastor

I was born in Nebraska farm country but grew up in Denver, Colorado. After seeing my need for a savior at an early age, I came to saving faith in Christ. The Lord gave me a passion for art and design, and this led me to pursue a career in architecture. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1989 and worked as an architect in Aspen, Colorado for nine years designing large homes and ski resort facilities.
In 1993 I was privileged to marry my amazing wife Jennifer, a great partner in life and ministry. We’ve enjoyed raising four sons—Daniel, Andrew, Luke, and Matthew.
Although I loved my architectural career, the Lord had other plans. I was confident he was calling me into pastoral ministry, so we moved to southern California in 1997 where I attended The Master’s Seminary. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001. Not long after, the Lord brought us back to southwestern Colorado where I pastored Summit Lake Community Church at the edge of the beautiful La Plata mountains for sixteen years. In 2019 the Lord graciously called us to the beautiful Hill Country of Texas where I am privileged to serve as the associate pastor at Kerrville Bible Church.
I am passionate about the truth of God’s Word and helping others grow in their Christian faith. I want to see the glory of God exalted in the Church and in the lives of faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
Some would say I am an outdoor enthusiast. I say I love the wonder of God’s creation. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and skiing whenever I can. I am a lifelong Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets fan. I love good coffee, good books, and good music. I am also the author of two books: What about Free Will? Reconciling Our Choices with God’s Sovereignty (P&R 2016) and What about Evil? God’s Glory Magnified in a World Ruined by Sin (P&R 2020).

Toby Baxley, Worship Pastor

I am an only child of a single mom, whom the Lord called home in September 2019. I grew up in Hagerman, New Mexico, first believed the Gospel at the age of 8 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Hagerman. I was called to ministry at age 21 and licensed by First Baptist Church of Hagerman in 1997, the day after proposing marriage to my wife, Melissa. I worked in the business world and led worship on a part-time and bi-vocational basis until the Lord called us to Kerrville Bible Church in 2016. We are tremendously blessed to be a part of this church.
I graduated with degrees in Commercial Music from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, and Music Business from West Texas A&M University. My family and I moved to Kerrville from East Texas, where we lived for ten years. While in East Texas, we were active members of Garden Valley Bible Church, where I served as Worship Leader and Elder.
In addition to leading in worship at KBC, I am a songwriter and recording artist. I have released four albums of my own: Worship the Newborn King is an album of original worship music for the Christmas season. We Sing Hallelujah and Perfectly Well are albums of original worship music and hymn re-makes for all seasons. Hymns with Friends is a live recording of a night of hymn singing, recorded at Garden Valley Bible Church. Sheet music for my original music is distributed by PraiseCharts. All of my music can be streamed from Bandcamp and other sites across the internet.
In my spare time, I enjoy BBQ (mostly eating and a little cooking) and watching football (mostly the Cowboys and the Chiefs). I also enjoy reading, drinking good coffee (the pursuit of which is quite a rabbit hole), and spending time with my wife and our four children: Garrett, Vivian, Cora, and Wyatt.

Murray Van Gundy, Youth & Family Pastor

I was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1971. I did not grow up in a Christian home or hear anything about Jesus and the Bible. I came to faith in Jesus Christ on September 28, 1997 when He graciously saved a wretch like me.
I played golf at an early age that led to playing golf on a collegiate and professional level. God used that path to lead me to a much better and more fruitful path of full-time ministry. I have been a pastor since 2003 serving in youth, college, and mission ministry along with planting a Reformed Church in El Paso in 2015.
I have been married to my wife Katie since 1999, and we have two awesome children, Ella Grace and Quin. My family and I moved to Kerrville in June of 2021 where I became the Youth & Family Pastor at KBC. If the Lord so wills it, this will be the place we raise our children’s children!
I love the Lord and His word… I love teaching His truth and equipping others, of all ages, to do the work of the ministry. I am a generational disciple maker at heart! I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, and occasionally getting back on the golf course.
