God made us and saved us for His own glory and good pleasure, not for us to glory in ourselves. We exist to boast in God because of His perfect character and awesome acts, especially His work of redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ. “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” We seek to show others that God is worthy of our boasting and obedience by consistently pursuing three main activities as a church, that together, glorify God. They are …
Our message is Jesus Christ, crucified and raised from the dead! We seek to anchor everything in the Person and work of the Messiah, the Son of God. To proclaim Christ is to draw attention to Him, His perfect life and character, His compassionate and authenticating miracles, His sacrificial, atoning death and His victorious resurrection. To proclaim Christ is to point people not to the preacher, nor the church, nor a system of rules, but to a relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We began as a home Bible study in 1976 and officially formed as a church in 1979 under the name Believer’s Fellowship. Later, our current property was acquired and the church building (now the Fellowship Hall) was moved from Sydney Baker to our current location. The Library and Education Buildings were later added. The first service in our sanctuary was Easter, 1999.
Pastor Chris is our third pastor, following Steve Sullivan and Dallas Turner, who both served the church around 10 years each. During the 90’s the name was changed to Kerrville Bible Church.
We are blessed to be debt free and able to support missions at 30% of offerings each year. Our church has developed a strong reputation for missions, both local and global, as well as being focused on teaching the Bible to all ages and in all settings. We exist not for ourselves but for the glory of God and are extremely grateful for His protecting and sustaining grace over the years.
Membership at Kerrville Bible is open to anyone 18 and older who professes Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior and who completes the New Member’s Class offered each Spring and Fall. At the end of the membership class, applicants are interviewed by an elder.
