FLOOD RELIEF

KBC is hosting Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Effort

Dear KBC Family,

PLEASE READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY

We are hosting Samaritan's Purse disaster relief effort for Kerr County starting tonight and running 2-4 weeks (estimated). They also seek volunteers from the host church to help with the work of "muck and guck" - removal of furniture, drywall, etc. of flooded homes. They follow up with immediate mold remediation efforts as well, as they seek to get damaged homes "contractor ready". Kitchen/cook volunteers are welcome as they provide three meals a day for their team, using our kitchen in addition to their own cook trailer. They bring their own food.

They will have 40-50 people sleeping here overnight in the FLC. They will have a semi-trailer on the property, along with a kitchen trailer, shower trailer w/ W/D and other vans and trucks. They bring everything they need to be as self-sufficient as possible, including all the equipment and tools needed for each day's work.

Their primary focus will be flooded homes serving as a primary residence (if you know of someone in this category needing help, please let Rita know via email with name, address and contact phone number). A secondary residence is also a possibility but not the highest priority. Their assessment team will also consider the camps that have been impacted to see if there's ways to help there as well.

The Billy Graham Association also comes alongside Samaritan's Purse in these situations to provide chaplains and spiritual counseling. The goal is to point the grieving and broken hearted to the Lord Jesus and His church as the minister to both body and soul.

The main disruption we will experience is Sunday morning parking. If there's little to no more rain, some trucks can park on the dirt of the new property (we are about two weeks out from having road base in place). Otherwise, we can park in front of the fence next door at Tellus like we have been in the past (but not directly in front of their building). We can also park in the office complex next to Tellus, but ONLY the stretch of parking that faces Harper Road - DO NOT PARK directly in front of any of the office spaces. It will also be a good time to carpool to church and for families to have only ONE vehicle per family on campus.

To volunteer with Samaritan's Purse, go to spvolunteer.org, click on "get involved" and find US Disaster Relief, Kerr county. The link should be ready by 4pm. Those who sign up online are given priority. There will be an orientation in the morning in the FH at 7:30 if you were able to sign up online. Bring your own lunch, wear boots and bring your own tools if you want, otherwise their tools will be provided. Youth 14-17 must be with a parent. Under 14 is not allowed.

In addition, we have been contacted by several churches and pastors around the country with offers to help financially. We have set up a Flood Relief Fund for these donations if you desire to contribute as well.

We thank God for the facilities He's provided for just such a time as this.

Thank you for your support and patience as we serve the Lord and Kerr County in this way.

On behalf of the Elders,
Pastor Chris

I just tried to sign up for volunteering for days. Is it full already? Pleas advise, I couldn't get any days.
