Friday Afternoon Encouragement

4/3/2020

First, know you are being prayed for and are loved. Your staff and elders are here to help in any way we can. Let’s keep the lines of communication open and the conversations flowing.

As we look ahead to Sunday, I want to share a few thoughts to help you prepare for your time of in-home worship.

  1. Try to keep your Sunday morning routine the same, minus the drive to church of course. Then gather as a family or just yourself, say a short pray of preparation and get ready for the Livestream to begin. I think getting dressed for the day, sitting up (vs kids laying on the floor or staying in bed), standing for songs and Scripture reading all makes sense and honors the Lord. Parents, don’t let yourself or your kids develop bad habits just because you are at home. God is still God, the Word is still the authority, worship is still to be done in spirit and in truth. Carry on for the most part like you were in our Worship Center and remember, all churches met in homes for the first 300 years of church history!
  2. Consider texting pictures of your prepared family to other families and friends in the church. I’d love to get some texts like that! (830-739-5505)  What a way to encourage one another and be reminded that we are united in Christ.
  3. Consider figuring out how to have your TV mirror your streaming device so that the service comes through on your TV. This can be done whether you are using a computer, phone or tablet in most cases. Google it to find out how. It’s really not that hard, unless your TV is really old. The simple answer is it should either connect using WIFI or an HDMI cord.
  4. Our KBC web site issue has been corrected. You may want to double check everything on your side. The easiest way to connect on Sunday morning is to go directly to Livestream.
  5. Part of our worship is our giving. Please take advantage of the on-line giving option. It’s safe, secure, easy and easily changed as your circumstances change. We the McKnights been giving this way for years and it takes one more thing off our plate to remember or have to make up if sick or out on vacation. It’s really a win/win. You can sign up here. (That was me passing the plate right there 😁)
  6. Sunday is Palm Sunday, but there won’t be an emphasis on that fact. If that’s something really important to you, please forgive us. I could try to “force” it into the service, but believe what we have planned is what the flock most needs as we deal with this pandemic.
    1. That being said, please remember that Sunday is Palm Sunday and does launch our remembrance of Passion Week as our Lord made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, making His final and formal offer of Himself as King and Messiah to Israel.
    2. You might read Matthew 21:1-11 before church and if you have kids, have them participate with palm branches and shouts of “Hosanna to the Son of David!” This is a great opportunity for parents to teach the Bible to your kids, explain the meaning of Palm Sunday and what happened next.
  7. Our Scripture reading will be I Timothy 6:3-16 on contentment. The sermon title is “How to Be Content During Covid-19 and Beyond” from Philippians 4:10-14. Our songs will point us to the secret of contentment. How exciting!

Thank you for all you do as we are sheltering in place. Livestream has been so wonderful throughout my illness and this virus isolation. Verses that encourage are most helpful.

I always contribute in cash, but I'll send a check.

Praying this trial will be over soon.
