Statistics are showing that young men are returning to church in record numbers. What is good about this shift? How do we as a church/as pastors not miss an opportunity with young men? Is there a danger in young males becoming too “domineering”, too patriarchal? How do we capitalize on what God is doing in them and how do we govern against a pendulum swing into male chauvinism?

Love this episode because I have noticed a huge surge of young adults over the past 6 years getting more and more involved in the church. My question is, is it healthy to give someone kind of atta boy and put the focus on their “decision” to turn away from the sin in their life.

I definitely think it's appropriate to encourage the young adults who are coming to church. We have to be careful walking the line between encouraging someone's faith and congratulating them for something they had nothing to do with. It is God who calls us out of a life of sin and darkness.

Thank you for the response Toby. My experience is similar to the young man. I have been to many churches seeking fellowship but felt let down a lot because of my backsliding routine in the past. I felt I couldn’t live up to the “hype” of what the Lord had called me out of. I struggled with and still struggle at times with disconnecting from the worldly influences I call my friends. Since my wife and I have been attending KBC I have a better understanding of who God is and what he’s done and continues to do in my life. That being said I am still a work in progress.
