Why Is membership important?
Church membership is an expression of what salvation and belonging to the body of Christ is all about. It is a commitment to God AND to a local body of believers to carry out the desires of God for the glory of God and the edification of the body of Christ.
Church membership is NOT a means of salvation; a way to improve your standing with God; a clique or holy huddle nor place to network for business associates. It’s not about tradition, being on a church roll or having access to a pastor. It’s not about having someone handle your funeral when you die.
Committed membership helps settle our restless feet and is the only cure for “church hopping.” It gives us a sense of belonging to a body, a sense of investment and ownership in the ministry of Christ. It brings people under the shepherding care of elders and identifies them as members of the flock, who seek to be led, taught, cared for and held accountable in their faith-commitment to Christ. All of this enhances your service to God and others and greatly benefits your relationship with Christ.

Is membership Biblical?
And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
They were continually devoting themselves to the Apostle’s teaching and the fellowship, the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5
