I was born in Nebraska farm country but grew up in Denver, Colorado. After seeing my need for a savior at an early age, I came to saving faith in Christ. The Lord gave me a passion for art and design, and this led me to pursue a career in architecture. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1989 and worked as an architect in Aspen, Colorado for nine years designing large homes and ski resort facilities.
In 1993 I was privileged to marry my amazing wife Jennifer, a great partner in life and ministry. We’ve enjoyed raising four sons—Daniel, Andrew, Luke, and Matthew. Daniel is married to Sarah. Andrew is married to Cassidy. Luke is married to Sierra and they have our granddaughter, Sadie.
Although I loved my architectural career, the Lord had other plans. I was confident he was calling me into pastoral ministry, so we moved to southern California in 1997 where I attended The Master’s Seminary. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001. Not long after, the Lord brought us back to southwestern Colorado where I pastored Summit Lake Community Church at the edge of the beautiful La Plata mountains for sixteen years. In 2019 the Lord graciously called us to the beautiful Hill Country of Texas where I am privileged to serve as the associate pastor at Kerrville Bible Church.
I am passionate about the truth of God’s Word and helping others grow in their Christian faith. I want to see the glory of God exalted in the Church and in the lives of faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
Some would say I am an outdoor enthusiast. I say I love the wonder of God’s creation. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and skiing whenever I can. I am a lifelong Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets fan. I love good coffee, good books, and good music. I am also the author of two books: What about Free Will? Reconciling Our Choices with God’s Sovereignty(P&R 2016) and What about Evil? A Defense of God’s Sovereign Glory(P&R 2020).
